The ORA
The Ontario Rodeo Association (O.R.A.) was formed in 1957 at the Bar 11 Ranch, just outside Dundas, Ontario. The main reason for forming the Association was to promote rodeo in Ontario and produce a standard set of rules to be followed by the rodeo cowboys and rodeo producers and also, a set of rules to protect the stock used in rodeos from inhumane treatment. The ORA works with the Ontario Roping Association and the National High School Rodeo Association creating a natural progression for the athletes climbing the ranks. Currently, the seven standard events are Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Tie-down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping and Ladies Barrel Racing and optional events include; Breakaway Roping, Junior Steer Riding and Junior Barrels.
